Obituary for David M. "The Grump" Richardson

David Michael Richardson, “The Grump”, of Bensalem passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 48 years old. Born in West Chester, PA the late Joseph F., Jr and Irene (Massa) Richardson. Dave was a resident of Bensalem for the last 24 years. He was a graduate of Radnor High School, Class of 1992, after graduation he received a Bachelor's Degree from Lock Haven University, a Master's Degree from Oklahoma University and graduated from Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command. Dave was a member of the Bensalem Township Police Department for 24 years, serving most recent as the Deputy Director of Public Safety and will be deeply missed by his blue family. His previous rank of Lieutenant put him in command of the investigations section of police operations and has also commanded the patrol division and the K9 unit. Prior to being a Lieutenant, he was a Sergeant in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the K9 unit. Deputy Director Richardson worked two K9 partners, Czar and Prince, during his 13 years in the K9 unit, as well as his two faithful pets, Bear and Blitz. Dave enjoyed the simple things in life and had a great sense of humor. He loved fall nights around the fire pit with family and friends, sharing laughs and stories over some bourbon and a good cigar. Dave was an avid fan of music. He always treasured trips to the Finger Lakes with wife, Johanna and impromptu rides to the country in their Jeep. He will be profoundly missed by his soulmate, his beloved wife of 23 years, Johanna (Plumb) Richardson. Dave will also be deeply missed by his 2 loving daughters, whom he adored, Bailey and Ella Richardson; His siblings: Joseph F. Richardson, III (Kelly), Maria Jenkinson (Dave); His In-Laws: John and Nickie Plumb; Sister-In-Laws: Tessa Roberts (Mark), Rebecca Buchheister (Kevin); Brother-in-Law: Harold Plumb (Dee); Best Friend: William McVey (Susan) and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 9 to 11 AM at the Christian Life Center, 3100 Galloway Rd., Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
