Obituary for Donald D. Charlton

Donald C. Charlton also known as “Sam Dallas” of Uniondale, New York passed away on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, Pennsylvania at the age of 76. Donald was born in Mandeville, Jamaica, the first son of the late Mayor of Mandeville Cecil C. Charlton and Louise Charlton. Donald enjoyed playing mahjong, cooking, tennis, listening to and playing music especially R&B, Soul, Country, Jazz, Doo-Wop and watching county and western movies. Donald was a professional mechanic but was also known as a ‘Jack of all Trades’. He enjoyed building furniture for family and friends, whether it was a dresser or an office desk. Donald enjoyed having get-togethers with families and friends where he not only did all the cooking but was the center of attention giving jokes and keeping everyone entertained. Donald will be sadly missed and is survived by his wife of 47 years Bernadette, his 4 loving children Donna Baxter (Ricardo)-Georgia, Derrick Charlton Sr. (Evelyn)-Texas, Diane Charlton-German (Lawrence)-Pennsylvania, Donette Charlton-McCleary (Gregory II)-Pennsylvania, his sister Winsome ‘Lady C’ Charlton (Tony Blair)-Florida, brothers Cecil Charlton Jr-J.R.- Jamaica, David Charlton-Jamaica, 7 grandchildren Derrick Jr., Devin, Jaiden, Dominique, Daelyn ,Jonathan and Gregory III, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family relatives and numerous friends. Services and interment will be held privately.
