Obituary for Dr. Frederick F. Fleischman

Dr. Frederick F. Fleischman of Langhorne passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was 96 years old. Born in Greenport, NY, Frederick has been a resident of Langhorne for many years. He received his PhD from Cornell University, Class of 1949 in Agriculture. His dissertation on “clean in place” for dairy equipment has become the method used in numerous industries as the standard today, including dairy and brewing.
Frederick was a proud US Army Veteran. He met his wife Virginia M. (Matthews) Fleischman while on leave in Columbus, OH during WWII. They would be married for 62 years, before her death.
Frederick worked for Corning for years, before leaving to start his own chemical business. When asked why he decided to leave his career at a well-established organization to go out on his own, he replied “I was tired of working for people who didn’t know what they were doing.” This proved to be the right move, as he was very successful for the remainder of his career, before retiring.
In his retirement, he enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling. He taught his grandchildren how to fish, pilot boats, but most importantly the value of a good education and doing what makes you happy. He wanted you to be happy in everything you did and enjoyed hearing your stories. He appreciated the time you would spend with him, just listening to his experiences and his thoughts on everything from sports (baseball and football) to restaurants to wineries in the Finger Lakes NY (where he grew up).
Frederick is survived by his children: Kenneth A. Fleischman (Roberta), Linda S. Danas (Larry) and Kathryn F. Jamison (Michael); 10 Grandchildren: Jessica (Don), Kristen (Josh), Dean (Desiree) Kimberly (Kaliq), Jamie, Carey (Keith), Kelly (Jim), Danielle (Bryan), Jennifer and Daniel; 9 great grandchildren: Carly, Michael, Anna, Tiana, Alexandra, Coltrane, Hadley, Carter, Marcelo and his special friend, Janet Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren: Kenneth A. Fleischman and David Danas and his sister, Marjorie Yris. Services and interment will be private. www.tomlinsonfh.com
