Joan Rice died on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at St Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late John and Willetta Weckerly (Wolfe). Joan was a resident of Croydon for over 64 years and was mainly a homemaker. As her children got older, she held jobs at Two Guys, Sears and lastly Burlington Coat Factory. Joan was preceded in death by her only true love ( as she let everyone know) Daniel Rice and they were married for 65 years. She will be deeply missed by her loving children: Donna McVey, Linda Young, Darlene Dickinson (Bruce), Daniel Rice (Catherine), Karen Rice, Kevin Rice (Bernadette), and Cheryl Rice. Joan had 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren who loved her as much as her own children. Joan also had 3 sisters Grace Ward and Alice Patton who preceded her in death and Ellen Fiot . She will be missed by all since she was the glue that kept it all together. She was witty and had plenty of sass that we all experienced and enjoyed along with being our most treasured confidant who was always there to save us from anything. She was to us not only a mother or grandmother she was our friend who we could come to with anything.
She will be missed but forever loved by us all. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to their Church . Wilkinson Memorial United Methodist Church 1601 state Road Croydon ,Pa 19021

I love and cherish you with all of my ♥️heart, Aunt Joan. You were always and still are my favorite Aunt. I always enjoyed your smile and loving heart over the years. I remember many visits when I was younger and I spent time with my cousin, Karen and you and Uncle Danny were always so gracious to me and displayed unbelievable hospitality and love and kindness to me and I will always remember that and I will never forget that. I love and cherish you both and respect you highly as my most precious Aunt and Uncle. I miss you both and I thank the Lord for you each day. I have such wonderful memories of the times I shared there in your beautiful and 🥰 loving home. I always have and treasure a wonderful memory that I’m sure my dear cousin Karen will remember when we were spending time together swimming in your pool outside and Karen had asked if I could stay overnight and I was all excited and wanted to stay too and I can remember Karen asking you both as her Mom and Dad if I could stay overnight to spend some time with my cousin.- I remember vividly calling out to Karen in sheer joy and excitement-“Hot Diggity Dog!”🤗-and the reason I said that was because I was looking forward of course spending time with my precious cousin Karen and also to spend time with my Aunt Joan and Uncle Danny, who I treasure dearly and it was just a thrill for me to be able to stay overnight and spend time with my dear and precious Aunt and Uncle and all my cousins.- I treasure you all dearly I will miss you, Aunt Joan, as well as my dear Uncle Danny. You both always exhibited warm, loving, and gentle ♥️ ♥️ hearts and I always appreciated and respected that, more than you realize. You are so precious to me and I love you so very much. - I give you my sincere felt heart and emotion and prayers my dear family that God will give you strength during this difficult time. We celebrate the life of Joan Rice,-(my Aunt Joan)-and, her loving husband, too, (my Uncle Danny), -and the beautiful legacy of true love that she is leaving to us, (as well as Uncle Danny),- and she lives on in our ♥️♥️ hearts and spirits and her love and her testimony will live on for the Lord I love and cherish you all my dear family love and prayers alwaysRobin Jean Rice👼🙏♥️🥰

Joan was an inviting happy woman who always made me laugh. She was also and kind and caring neighbor. Although I didn’t get to visit as often as I would have lijed, I will miss those little visits with her sitting in her living room chatting with her as she held her precious little dog. I know she is very happy as she has been reunited with her one and only love Danny who we also miss. My prayer is that God will wrap his loving arms of comfort around her children, grandchildren and extended family and be with them as they mourn her loss and navigate life without her. She will be missed. God bless and be with you all.
