Obituary for John M. Mooney

John M. Mooney, age 78, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, he was a Bensalem resident for most of his life. After proudly serving in the United States Army Reserves, John worked for Bell Telephone (Verizon) for thirty-eight years until his retirement in 2003. He was a 1957 graduate of St. Charles Borromeo School and a 1961 graduate of Father Judge High School. John was an active parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church, having served as an altar server, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, an usher, and a volunteer in various capacities. In his free time John enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching Westerns, the Phillies, and the Eagles. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong faith, his willingness to help others, and his love of Airedale Terriers.
The loving son of the late Anthony V. Mooney and Rose A. Frank, John will be sorely missed by Kathleen (Flynn), his beloved wife of fifty-three years, his children John Mooney Jr. (Karol), Brian Mooney (Patricia), and Dr. Colleen Mooney (Timothy Coughlin), his granddaughters Siobhan Mooney, Brielle Mooney, and Stephanie Nolan (Ben), his sisters Dolores Hall, Alice Shollar, and Susan Daley, his brother Michael Mooney, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his brother Anthony P. Mooney and his sister Rosemary Daub. Family and friends are invited to attend John’s viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022, followed by his 11:00 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1731 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020. The Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
John’s family would like to thank the staff at Allegria at the Oaks and Chandler Hall Hospice for the compassionate and loving care they provided John during his time of need.
