Obituary for Joseph F. "Rip" Kirby Jr.

Joseph “Rip” Kirby, Jr. passed away on January 13, 2023 at 59 years old and will be sorely missed by all who had the distinct privilege of knowing and loving him. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Rip loved to love … and loved being loved. He had a heart of gold, pure and honest. A humble man, he was generous, kind, giving, thoughtful and proud. He brought much joy, light and happiness to all, always. Rip’s big laughter and one of kind smile lifted every room he entered. He enjoyed the little and most important things in life ... a simple hello, a text, a hug or a conversation. Nothing made Rip happier than spending time with loved ones and his cat Buddy (also known as Whiskers and sometimes called Buddy-Whiskers). He enjoyed music, movies, sports, bowling and Nancy’s cooking. His family and friends will cherish countless fond memories of him and the joy he showered upon us.

Rip took great pride in his 25 years of service at Delaware Valley College. During his too brief time here on earth, one of his most favorite other jobs was at AMC where he took immense pleasure getting free movie tickets for his family. Rip’s classic line “Did you miss me?” was his special way of saying “hello, I love you”. Yes!, we will certainly all miss him.

Now at peace and reunited with the Lord and his mother, we are all better for having the chance to love and be loved by Rip. May we continue his legacy by keeping this incredible man’s spirit in our hearts and minds every day.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 10 to 11 AM at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, P.C., 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 11 AM. Interment Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. www.tomlinsonfh.com
