Obituary for Karen Brady (Buster)

My mom Karen Brady entered Heaven on January 30th 2023; she was 71 years old. She was the widow of her life partner Mike Muzio, who died on November 11th, 2018. She was born in Philadelphia on November 18th, 1951 to Jim and Helen Buster. She grew up in historic Rittenhousetown Philadelphia. From there she moved to the Logan section of Philadelphia. Then, when my brother and I were growing up, she lived and worked in Bensalem PA. Then, to Richmond Hill, New York for her last 18 years of work and finally retired to beautiful Melbourne Beach Florida. Karen worked in the horse racing industry for over 40 years in many different roles. She retired in 2016 from the New York Racing Association where she finished her career as a Horse Identifier. She loved everything about horse racing and the people that are involved in it. Once she was retired, she enjoyed visiting the tracks as a spectator and a fan for all of the big races. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends that she loved so much. Her smile was contagious and with her outgoing personality she always lit up the room. She was a kind hearted free spirit who was full of life and will be deeply missed and loved by all. Karen is survived by her son, Jeremy Brady (Shannon) and her grandchildren: Zach, Shane, Ella, and Michael, as well as her many friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Thomas Brady, and her brother, James Buster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Visitation, on Saturday, February 18th at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pa 19020 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by her Mass at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery of West Consohocken. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Karen’s name to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, https://pdjf.org/donate/donation-in-memorial/.
