Lois C. (Meeden) Swenson of Garnet Valley, PA passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was 79 years old. Born in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Merle and Eunice (Yanzito) Meeden, and a resident of Garnet Valley for the last 15 years. Lois was a graduate of Eastern University, Class of 1964 where she received her BA in English, then she attended Palmer Theological Seminary with a one year fellowship. Later she earned her master’s in early education at Arcadia University. Education was a true passion for Lois and throughout her life, she helped establish various educational programs at churches and local outreach organizations. When she worked as a teacher for the Chester County School District, her students named her the “Story Lady”, as she captivated them with her life stories. Lois also served her community as a Sunday School teacher and Bible Study member. She also volunteered her time at CityTeam in Chester, PA and Nemours Children’s Hospital, Wilmington DE. Lois also enjoyed gardening, writing, reading, sudoku puzzles, playing the piano and guitar, researching her family history, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Rev. Jon Eric Swenson. Lois will be sadly missed by her 3 loving children: Erica Elliot (Keith), Leah Arter (Col. Ret. Charles Coursey) and Jon C. Swenson; Her siblings: Glen (Nancy) and Keith Meeden and 4 grandchildren: Hannah and Chloe Garton and Seth and Ethan Arter. Lois was also preceded in death by her son, Keith William Swenson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Friday July 29, 2022, from 12 to 1 PM at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Rd, Thornton, PA 19373, followed by her service at 1 PM. Interment will take place privately at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery of Summit Hill.
