Obituary for Maryann L. Barnes

Maryann L. (DeFino) Barnes of Langhorne Manor passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was 78 years old. Maryann was born on January 30, 1942 in Yonkers, NY and was a long-time resident of Langhorne Manor Borough. She was a graduate of the Cochran School of Nursing, Class of 1962 and was a Registered Nurse of over 45 years. Maryann worked in all phases of Hospital Nursing early in her career and later with the Extendicare Health Facilities, Inc., serving as the Senior Staff Development Coordinator, Regional Educator and lastly as the Education Coordinator. She had a true passion for public service throughout her life, serving in local government positions or volunteering her time with various charities. Maryann served on the Langhorne Manor Borough Council for 40 years; at various times serving as President, Vice President and Planning Committee Chair. Maryann also served her state as Republican State CommitteeWoman until the time of her death. She also was a Republican Committee Woman for Langhorne Manor. Maryann was a member of the Middletown Republican Committee. Maryann was also an active communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church. She was Eucharistic Minister for the parish, served on the finance committee and assisted at the rectory. Maryann’s life of service also included time on the Advisory Board of the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging and on the Penndel Mental Health Advisory Board. Maryann along her late husband, Michael, showed her community and family what a special feeling you could receive in your heart helping those in a time of need. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her two grandchildren, Alexis and Ryan Barnes. She also enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends, who will miss her deeply. Maryann was preceded in death by her beloved Husband Michael P. Barnes. She will be sadly missed by her 3 loving children: Patty Jo, William H. and Michael P. Barnes (Heather). Maryann is also survived by her sister, Carole mDeRoberts (The late John) and her two grandchildren: Alexis Rose and Ryan Patrick Barnes. She was preceded in death by her Stepfather and Mother, Frank and Mary (Gurka) Zolchak, Her daughter, Susan Ann Barnes and brother, Frank Zolchak. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 Bellevue Ave, Penndel, PA 19047, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, which may be viewed, via life-stream, please visit tomlinsonfh.com for details.
