Obituary for Robert Jackson McGraw

Robert Jackson McGraw, of Hilltown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home on November 7th. He was 94 years old. Bob was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force where he flew with the 7167th Special Air Missions Squadron, Wiesbaden Air Base, Germany, and was based at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. After serving, he continued his dream to fly as a pilot for United Airlines for 37 years. During the time he was with United Airlines, he had the pleasure of flying the Philadephia Eagles and volunteering with the team for seven years. His time with the Eagles included some of his fondest memories, close friendships, an NFC Championship, and an appearance in Super Bowl XV. The team affectionately referred to him as “Captain Bob.” Throughout his life, Bob always had a dog by his side. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fly fishing, playing golf, farming his Bucks County farm where he lived for the past 57 years, participating in field trials, riding horses, and flying. He was a member of the Southern Clinton County Sportsmen’s Association, Trout Unlimited, USGA, Clinton Country Club, the International Comanche Society, and past president of the Big Fishing Creek Cottage Association. Bob loved spending time at his cabin near Big Fishing Creek in Clinton County, Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association, and was a 32nd degree Mason at the Harry A. Houseman Lodge which was founded by his father, Isaac R. McGraw. Bob truly lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 67 years, Sally (nee Walter). He often said marrying her was the best decision he ever made. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and son, and will also be greatly missed by his daughters: Janine McGraw Dolan, Rachael (Randi) McGraw Egan, and Leigh McGraw Beck (Jerry) as well as his sister, Mary Jane Murphy, and his grandchildren: Brendan, Kathleen, Mary, Kellen, Hannah, Liam and Melissa, and 6 great grandchildren. A private gathering for family and friends is being planned by the family to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
