Obituary for Suleyman Gurten

Suleyman Gurten, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on January 25th with his family by his side, just short of his 73rd birthday. Suleyman, (better known as ‘Suley’ ‘Solly’ ‘Sal’ ‘Sully’ or his most prized title ‘Pop-Pop’) worked as a line mechanic at Crown Cork & Seal for over 20 years, where he met some of his lifelong friends who became family. He went on to work at Immaculate Mary Nursing Home for 15 years thereafter. He had a true passion for cooking and enjoyed doing so in his free time. He loved his Philadelphia Eagles, the beach, his two devoted dogs (Moota and Romeo) and his two devoted cats (Tiger and Cleo). Most importantly, he loved his family above all. Suleyman is survived by his wife: Marietta Gurten, his children: Scott Gurten (Heather Jarjisian), Jonathan Gurten (Kasey McConaghy), and Laura Gurten (Harry Duff), his grandchildren: Frank, Juliet, Riley, Charlotte, Ava, Declan, and Vivian, as well as his immediate family residing in Turkey. Services and interment will be private.
