Obituary for Theodore Sax

Theodore “Ted” Sax, of Philadelphia, passed away at his family’s home in Bensalem on Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was 89 years old. Upon graduating from Upper Darby High School in 1949, Ted joined the U.S. Navy Reserve, serving until his honorable discharge in 1957. Ted worked as a sewing machine mechanic for the majority of his life, eventually starting his own business. He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, always with an entertaining story or joke to tell. He was an avid pet lover and liked to bowl, joining several leagues throughout his years. Ted also enjoyed dining out, and traveling when he was in better health. Ted was an active resident at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park, having moved there in 2019. Ted was a loving father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his children: Loretta Sax, Karen Crossin (Eric), and Mary Tyrrell (Rick), as well as his five grandchildren: Audrey, Dylan, and Juliet Crossin, and Rick and Jason Tyrrell. Ted is also survived by his former wife, Kathleen Ways. Ted was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Sax, in 1965. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted’s memory to Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park, Benevolent Care, 8401 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19152, or online at https://www.wel.org/giving/wesley-enhanced-living-foundation/donate-now/.
